Gaga Ball
Fast, crowded "dodgeball in a pit" where you slap the ball, not throw it.
6–25 players · about 10 minutes · Run around · Gym, Big room, Outdoors
What you need
- A gaga pit, or a ring made of folding tables turned on their sides
- One soft playground ball
Setup
Everyone stands inside the pit with one hand touching the wall.
How to play
- The leader tosses the ball in. Everyone chants "Ga!" on the first bounce, "Ga!" on the second, and "Go!" on the third. Then play begins.
- Hit the ball with an open hand only. No throwing, no kicking, no carrying.
- If the ball touches you at or below the knee, you're out.
- You can't hit the ball twice in a row, and if you hit it out of the pit, you're out.
How to win
The last player in the pit wins.
Leader tips
- Rounds are short, so the people who are out are never waiting long.
- Teens can play "knees and below" while younger kids play "waist and below" to make it easier.
Safety: Make sure tables are sturdy and won't tip. No grabbing the walls to jump in.
