The Promised Seed

One promise, made the day sin began, kept in Jesus.

  1. Genesis 3:15

    And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.

    The first promise: the woman's offspring will crush the serpent's head, though His heel will be struck.

  2. Genesis 22:18

    And through your offspring all nations of the earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.”

    God narrows the promise to Abraham: through your offspring all nations will be blessed.

  3. 2 Samuel 7:12

    And when your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will raise up your descendant after you, who will come from your own body, and I will establish his kingdom.

    Then to David: I will raise up your offspring after you and establish His kingdom forever.

  4. Isaiah 7:14

    Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin will be with child and give birth to a son, and will call Him Immanuel.

    A sign: the virgin will conceive and bear a son, Immanuel, “God with us.”

  5. Isaiah 9:6

    For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government will be upon His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

    A child is born to us, and He is called Mighty God and Everlasting Father.

  6. Galatians 3:16

    The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. The Scripture does not say, “and to seeds, meaning many, but “and to your seed,” meaning One, who is Christ.

    Paul points out that the promise says “seed,” not “seeds.” It means one person: Christ.

    But when the time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law,

    When the time was right, God sent His Son, born of a woman, just as Genesis 3:15 said.
